Answer Learn about Kazakhstan’s revenue from bitcoin mining fees in the first quarter of 2022
Kazakhstan is one of the famous Asian countries in the crypto community, as it is famous for the presence of many miners there.
Recently, the Kazakhstan government generated 652 million Kazakhstani tenge ($1.5 million) in bitcoin mining in the first quarter of 2022.
This number is well below expectations, in large part due to the government shutting down mining companies across the country as of late last year.
Mining in Kazakhstan:
According to report Issued by Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance on Monday, bitcoin mining fees flowed in from across 12 regions of the country.

The largest payers of these fees included only three companies:
AISolutions Corporation, Agro Energy, BCD.
In Kazakhstan, bitcoin miners are required to pay state energy fees as part of legislation introduced on January 1, 2022.
On the 20th day of the last month of each quarter, miners must pay exactly one tenge ($0.0024) per kilowatt.
Currently, an increase in this rate is being discussed in Parliament.
However, the report notes that the projected fees for the first quarter have not yet been received by the authorized authority, as most mining companies have been out of power for more than half a year now.
Although mining still consumes a small part of the total global energy, a very large part of the industry is located in Kazakhstan.
The Central Asian country has a population of less than 19 million people, yet it accounts for 13.22% of the global hash rate according to recent figures, which makes it the third largest bitcoin mining hub.
As of March, the state has closed 106 mining farms in the area.
It is now considering imposing an additional mining tax based on the bitcoin price so that the state budget would indirectly benefit from the bitcoin price hike.

Electricity and Bitcoin Mining:
Iran, another country that hosts a huge percentage of the Bitcoin network hash rate.
It also cracks down on unlicensed mining operations within its borders.
The country has faced similar blackout problems in the past and responded with a seasonal mining strategy to ensure that miners do not stress the grid especially when it is in peak demand.
On the other hand, Texas took an unorthodox approach by inviting more miners to the state in response to the blackout.
Governor Greg Abbott believes the mining industry will spur the development of more power generation facilities in the region, which could help stabilize its currently weak network.
